Thankful

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house for the first time since we moved here! We usually go to Mike's parents house but with the new addition we knew that it would be too overwhelming to make the trip so we invited everyone here. My mother in law sweetly offered to bring anything and everything and my parents took care of the Turkey and the stuffing. I was only in charge of one thing, the yams-one of my personal favorites! My parents also brought up my grandmothers dining table that is in excellent condition! It is perfect and just what we needed. I don't know why, but for some reason our little family of 4 just really seems to need a huge table.

Mike's grandpa also came to our house and it was really nice to see him. Sawyer has only met him once and that was about a year and a half ago. Sawyer totally loved him and included him in his conversations and play right away. My favorite memory of the whole day was when Sawyer was talking to Mike's grandpa and didn't remember his name and said "hey! Grandpa man!" I keep laughing about it! He then changed from Grandpa man to Papa John and Sawyer spent a lot of the day talking to him and showing off his indoor fishing skills.

The day was really great and I loved spending the time with my family! Blair was very well behaved, however she was going through her 6 week growth spurt so I spent a lot of time sitting in our bedroom feeding her. But, it was nice to spend some quiet time with her throughout the day. She is such a sweet baby.

I'm so thankful for these three

Grandpa's first time meeting Blair, pretty sure he liked her ;)

Both kids look a little grubby here, but how sweet is Sawyer's face?

The awesome new table! Ignore the mismatched chairs, I am working on that....

I'm so happy I got to use my wedding china.

Kid Love

Even with tantrums and lack of sleep I couldn't love these kids more. Sawyer's energy and smiles make me happy. I love his little lisp and the stories he tells. Blair's sleep faces and stretches make me smile. I love her teeny feet and what we call her trap door lip. They are the best.

Things I want to remember: Volume 4

I don't do these often enough! I've already forgotten so many of Sawyers funny little sayings but lately I've been keeping a little log on my phone.
  • He has a police car that makes sounds and says phrases. The other day I was putting Blair in the car and I look over and Sawyer is standing on the sidewalk with his arm pointed at a car driving by and saying "STOP! In the name of the law!"
  • He likes to pretend fish in the house and say "OH LOOK! I caught a big one" while reeling up the pretend fish and anyone in the house has to comment on how big the fish is
  • One day I came home with some groceries and he saw me putting the milk away and said in the sweetest most appreciative voice "you got milk for me? Thank you mommy! I love milk!"
  • He has been on this kick where he doesn't want to be called Sawyer. He makes us refer to him as "Daddy's dad." It is both hilarious and ridiculous.
  • Sometimes Mike calls him "big guy" and a few times when Blair was crying in the car I heard him say "it's ok big guy."
  • Each car ride he loves to point out all the school buses and city buses, and when I am in the car alone I get all ready to point one out and then feel sad that he isn't there! It's just cute to see the smile and excitement on his face when he sees a bus. He loves anything transportation related, such a boy!
  • Sometimes I tickle him and he tells me to stop and I say "It wasn't me, it was Jacques (or Pierre)." He now plays that game. He was throwing toys in his playroom and I asked him to stop and he said "It wasn't me, it was Jacques!" darn!
  • He will have us play cars or something similar with him and "show us" how to do something, then says "THAT'S how you do it!"
  • I had a bowl of grapes and I asked him if he wanted some and he said "no, they make me grumpy" and now he says that about every single food he doesn't want to eat.
  • Since Blair has been born and we've gotten all the baby gear out he likes to double check that he used it as a baby. "When I was a baby I used this chair? When I was a baby I had this binky?" it's really cute.
  • He calls medicine "Fussin." I think that is one of those things we'll be saying for years to come, it's just so funny
  • And last but not least, he can't perfectly say Blair, the "l" hangs him up.  So when he tells people about her he says "his name is Bwwwwair." We are also still working on the pronouns.
I realize these things mean nothing to anyone but us but I love them and I know in a few years I will look back and cry at these memories!

we tried to go for a walk yesterday....

we didn't make it far.

I wonder if her eyes will stay blue! They are so pretty.

Rainbow Baby / Blair's Room

They say your baby after a loss of a child or loss of a pregnancy is your rainbow baby. Blair is definitely my rainbow baby, she brightens our life! I still feel sad when I think of the baby I miscarried and think often about him or her and what our life would be like if that hadn't happened, but I know that Blair was meant for me-for our whole family. I am so happy she is my daughter. She is wonderful and lovely and she fills my heart with so much joy. Both of my kids do. I look at Sawyer and just want to cry because I can't believe how fast he has grown in these last 3.5 years. He is the funniest and sweetest boy on earth. I must be hormonal today, or perhaps it's the sleep deprivation, ;),  but putting everything into perspective, life is really good. We have two wonderful children, food on the table, clothes on our backs, and much much more and we couldn't be luckier.

Today is my first day alone with the kids and Blair blessed me by not being awake for 3 hours in a row in the middle of the night and Sawyer went to bed without a fight and slept until 7:45. I call that a win for this mom! Right now Sawyer is playing really nicely with his cars and Blair is snoozing on my chest. This is what life is all about.

I have this on her 365 blog but I love this outfit and she is the cutest gal I know!

And my fav recent picture of Sawyer, taken at my surprise party last month

Blair's room isn't completely done but I wanted to share some progress pictures. Mike's parents gave us this dresser and Mike stained it to match the crib and changing table

Her adorable jewelry box given to her by some of my dear friends

oh Pierre....

Mike made this changing table for Sawyer and now Blair is able to use it. Impressive work right?

a few little detail pics

Blair resting in her crib for the first time while I finished up the pics :)
