Sunshine Weekend {Lincoln City Beach Day and Playing in the Backyard}

When we woke up Saturday morning we decided it would be a beach day. The Lincoln City weather report promised sunshine and 66 degrees and for spring that is as good as it gets at the beach here! We stopped to get lunch first and then headed to the beach. It was warm but windy so I'm glad we brought our jackets. We haven't been to the beach since last August (and that was Santa Cruz) and I was a bit worried that Blair would get frustrated with the sand and that Sawyer would be upset that we didn't bring sand toys but both of them had so much fun. Sawyer brought a truck and some random little figurines and I brought some of Blair's beloved megablocks-though she mostly just liked throwing sand in the air onto her head. It's fun to be one! Sawyer liked burying his toys and then pretending (and sometimes not pretending) to forget where they were buried. It's fun to be five!

[I feel the need to explain that I have more pictures of Blair because she is more compliant, and not because I don't try to take pictures of Sawyer, he is less cooperative - it's a 5 year old thing ;) ]

Aren't these two adorable?

cutie

I'm kind of obsessed with these adorable shoes

There is my cute boy!

I love their sibling love

Blair hasn't fallen asleep in the car in ages, but a few minutes after we left I jokingly said "did I even put Blair in the car, why is she so quiet?" So I turned around  and strained to see in her little mirror and she was fast asleep. Even with Sawyer crying (because I ran into an outlet mall store without him while Mike circled the parking lot), poor guy. :( I felt bad!

The next day we stayed at home and set up some backyard fun for the kiddos. The backyard is kind of a disaster because Mike is working on some landscaping but hopefully soon things will be in tip top shape (and hopefully Mike can build some gates so the ghetto chair gate can be eliminated)

I think this hat is too small....

Every few minutes she would go over and yell at Mike, gotta love her ;)

"The Beard" / Sibling Sword Fights / Pretend Napping

Background - Sawyer likes to go to sleep in our bed on Friday and Saturdays, it is kind of a weekend treat where we let him watch cartoons or a movie in our bed. Back in February he did this one Saturday night per usual, and I remember thinking "wow, he went to bed pretty easily tonight" since he often comes out to the living room requesting things (water, change the channel, etc) and this night he didn't. Late that night Mike and I went to bed and we turned on a light so we could see him to bring him to his bed and we discovered the below. I wish I had a picture of the look on our faces. Confusion, surprise, hilarity. I then made my way to the bathroom to see a bunch of makeup scattered on the counter and pretty much ruined (I was able to salvage most of it), black handprints were all over the bathroom, and on our white duvet. It was so hilarious, we could not  even believe it.

For his birthday I found this crocheted beard on Etsy and ordered it. I forgot to give it to him on his actual birthday (I am such an airhead, my coworker asked me how he liked and that is what reminded me, oy vey). Needless to say,  he is a fan.

Of course we had to have Blair try it :)
I belong to this group on facebook where you can buy/sell kids clothes and after I put this shirt on Blair I realized it needed to go, I could hardly get it over (or off) her head (big brains) so off it went.  I had to get a photo first since it is sooooo cute!

That day the boys went fishing so Blair and I had a girl's morning where she played with her shopping cart and then we went to the mall

The other night Blair busted into the living room with one of Sawyer's swords saying "HIYA" so now sibling sword fights are a regular occurrence.

Who doesn't brush their teeth in their personalized chair while holding a sword?

Then she decided to hang out on the couch with all of her babies....

and pretended to take a nap with them. It was the cutest thing on earth.

April 16th this girl turned 18 months old! I love her eyes in this photo, she is really such a pretty girl.

And finally my sweet Sawyer let me take his picture

Sawyer Turns 5! / April 5th 2015 {Little North Santiam Hike}

Sawyer had been saying he wanted to go on a hike at this "place with the white water and a bridge" that he said he went to a long time ago. Mike figured out that he wanted to go on a hike at the Little North Santiam River which was a place they went to last year for a hike. We were both impressed that he remembered! The weather report said PM showers so we packed up early and off we went.

Sawyer really had the best time, he ran and yelled in excitement the entire time (which was about 3 hours).

When Sawyer woke up that morning I asked him how it felt to be 5 and he said "it feels good" and later told me that he felt "older and stronger." Isn't that so funny? I just love him to pieces.

5 years really blows me away! I remember going to the hospital the morning of the 5th and getting induced like it was just yesterday, and here he is a 5 year old. It is hard for a mom!

Isn't he the cutest?

This was Blair's first "real" hike where she was in a hiking backpack and she did surprisingly well! She enjoyed pulling Mike's hair and grabbing his ears while squealing. : ) Love her!

Blair needed a high-5

I just can't even.

We stopped to have a little snack, Blair had fun toddling around and promptly went try to sit in Sawyer's lap.

Blair started to shiver so Mike wrapped her up and I almost died from the cuteness

she loved it

Five!

such a beautiful place

Back at home it was time for Sawyer to open presents from his mom and dad (and a couple more from my parents) {the wheelbarrow was a gift from Mike and Sawyer couldn't believe it and kept asking if he could keep it!}

Astronaut gloves to go with his flight suit!

He requested a cupcake for his birthday so I grabbed this giant one from the grocery store : )

Flight suit with the new gloves and socks

We sure do love this 5 year old, I can't even put it into words.

*photos are a mix of mine and my dad's (mostly mine hehe)
